It’s sad to hear that more companies, like Amazon, are enforcing blanket back-to-office policies. The truth is that it is not a failure of the workforce to work productively from outside the office, but a failure of the business to take advantage of the benefits of remote first working.
Here are just a few of the advantages these companies are missing out:
- Better business continuity
- Reduced carbon footprint
- Increased productivity and happiness
- Long-term flexibility
- A larger talent pool
Unfortunately, instead of proactively implementing remote-first, some companies want to stick with what they have always done and blame their workers for their problems. We know from experience that companies that don’t evolve deteriorate and even die. It is ironic to see that many of these backward-looking companies are in big tech, putting out press releases about their cutting-edge new endeavours.
